PROJECT 12: KEYRING CHARM
REDESIGNED DEEP BLUE SUN NECKLACE PT.2
As I recounted in
my previous post, my friend asked to have a necklace redesigned.
I was able to
create one with the pendant but I was left with these materials that were still
in too good a condition to throw away. My friend isn’t really the free spirit type
so even if I made a bracelet out of these, she wouldn’t wear them. So the next
best thing is a keyring charm, so that even she doesn’t need them she can
easily give it away.
MATERIALS:
Black cord
2 Wood beads
Twister clasp
Large bead
STEP 1
Take the black
cord and insert through the twister clasp, rest the clasp in the middle of the
thread and tie a knot as close to the clasp as possible.
STEP 2
Fold cord A into a
bunny ear.
Wrap cord B around
the base of cord A and pull tight to securely hold cord A.
STEP 3
Fold cord B into a
bunny ear and insert through cord A hole.
Pull the tail of
cord A to tightly secure cord B. Adjust cords snugly into place.
STEP 4
Fold cord A into a
bunny ear, insert through cord B.
Pull the tail of
cord B to secure cord A. Continue until you reach the desired length.
*you can control
the length by either tightening or loosening the tension of the knots.
STEP 5
When you reach the
length you want, instead of folding into a bunny ear, take the end and insert
through the hole and pull the tail tight to close the knot.
Insert cords
through the large bead. I resorted to taping the ends of the cords to easily
pass them through the bead hole.
Let the bead rest
at the end of the knotted cords and secure in a knot.
STEP 7
Insert one cord to
a bead and secure in a knot. Repeat with the other cord. Adjust and trim the
ends.
The technique I
used for this is the first ever I’ve learned, I was around 10 & I don’t
remember which Ate (older sister) taught
me. We made friendship bracelets which we sold to friends & family for a
period of time and I never really forgot how to do it. I wanted to mention
which kind of technique this is in case my directions aren’t clear so I tried
searching google & pinterest for the name but I couldn’t find it! Please,
if anyone knows, please comment below or send me a message for proper
identification. Thank you! 😘
