PROJECT 03: SPIKE DANGLING EARRINGS

Crystal Dangling Earrings, Crystal Earrings, Dangling Earrings, DIY, Spike Pendant, Spiked Earrings
A good friend asked to borrow some jewelry to wear for a gala and sent me a picture of herself wearing a long, gorgeous black lace dress along with her hair pegs. And although I had a lot of earrings that would go well with the overall look, I decided to create a piece that was simple but edgy, something to complement the dress and show her fierce personality without taking too much attention from the dress.
So here’s what I came up with. I really like how it can also be worn everyday to dress up a casual outfit, or give your office attire an edgy feel. What do you think?

MATERIALS & TOOLS
2 pieces Fishhook Earrings
2 pieces Spike Pendant
2 pieces 2" Eyepin
4 pieces 3mm Jump Ring
8 pieces Silver Metal Beads
6 pieces 8mm Round Faceted Crystal Beads
12 pieces Bead Caps
Round Nose Pliers
Long Nose Pliers
Bent Nose Pliers (optional)
*I always use 2 pliers to open rings and chains, & these are what I have on hand.

STEP 1
Take 2" eye pin and insert 1 silver metal bead

STEP 2
Insert one bead cap & one round crystal bead followed by another bead cap and then a silver metal bead.

STEP 3
Repeat until you make 3. Close by creating a loop with the round nose pliers.

STEP 4
Open one jump ring and connect silver spike with the crystal beads. Close ring.

STEP 5
Take another jump ring and connect the other end of the crystal beads with the fishhook earring and close ring. Repeat to make a pair.
